Thomas Schenk recently joined Bürgicom AG as a new member of our fire alarm technology team.
In this interview, Thomas answers questions about his professional experience, his goals and his passion for fire alarm technology.

Thomas, what is your background?
As a trained electrician, I was able to work with various stakeholders on electrical installations in different buildings at an early stage.
Due to my interest in the security industry, the desire for continuous further development and the extensive experience gained from numerous projects, I specialized in fire and intruder alarm technology.
The supervision of extensive and complex projects enabled me to work as an overall project manager.
What interests and fascinates you about security technology?
The exciting thing is the interaction between all those involved.
The technology and its further development are certainly interesting.
However, my job as project manager is primarily to coordinate the customer’s requirements while taking the legal requirements into account.
In addition to the issues of regulations, costs and cost-effectiveness, the demands on security systems are constantly increasing, which makes everyday life extremely varied.

After working for a national company for many years, I am now looking forward to a regional environment.
In addition to a personal working atmosphere, you are involved in many decision-making processes and the resulting decisions are implemented immediately.
I really appreciate this close involvement in the company.
What are your priorities?
My job is to build up the fire alarm technology division at Bürgicom.
Potential customers need to associate the Bürgicom brand much more strongly with expertise in fire detection technology.
Where do you see the potential for Bürgicom?
The focus is clearly on small and medium-sized commercial enterprises.
In addition to companies in the industrial environment with production facilities, we also want to protect office buildings.
However, larger multinational companies are not yet among our customers.
What are the trends in fire detection technology?
It is undisputed that the demands on security systems are increasing and that high quality technology is essential.
However, the technological advances are not significant.
In my view, the trend is service: how do we serve our customers?
How quickly do we deal with their concerns and are we on site when there is a problem?
Our customers are our most important asset.
