It is an honor for us: Bürgi.com was allowed to advise the new Waldhaus beider Basel with the locking technology and also install it.
We installed all the locking cylinders from the manufacturer KABA System: STAR for the interior and exterior of the Waldhaus beider Basel.
With the aim of creating a new Waldhaus for all guests, the municipality of the city of Basel, as the owner, took advantage of the change of tenant at the end of 2020 and embarked on a thorough renovation of the hotel-restaurant in Hardwald, which was in need of refurbishment.
The investment volume amounts to CHF 11.6 million.
The unique location on the Rhine is to be taken into account with a large outdoor area with facilities such as a buvette, a serviced terrace and a playable veranda.
The restaurant will be given a completely new look and the hotel will be expanded.
The Waldhaus is to be an uncomplicated excursion destination, culinary attraction, venue for larger events and a dignified retreat all in one.
The renovation, led by architect Rolf Stalder, includes a complete refurbishment of the building services, electrical systems and sanitary facilities in addition to the areas visible to guests.
The new Waldhaus will also have a kitchen that meets all the requirements of modern gastronomy.
With the reopening, the Basel-based Wyniger Group is taking over the operation of the Waldhaus beider Basel as tenant.
Lukie Wyniger is the host in the newly renovated building; he leads a crew of around 25 people.
The kitchen philosophy practiced by head chef Marc Hellstern and his team is “market-fresh, not gourmet, but definitely homemade” and focuses on Swiss and regional products as well as personally known suppliers and producers.
The newly designed in-house herb garden will also be used.
The planning and installation was carried out professionally by our specialists.

The new restaurant with Rhine terrace and extended hotel reopened a few weeks ago.
